Some species of chameleon (such as the tiger chameleon) are endangered, but others (like the drakensberg dwarf chameleon) are not. Shedding old skins takes time to shed them all off. If this white part is a yellow color it means more water needs to be provided.

In photo 638, you can almost make out the eye ball as it is resting in the bottom of the socket. As for the basking spot, that isn't too bad, but it would be better if you got a intense basking spot bulb, 50 watt. A chameleon will close their eyes when they are dealing with a painful internal medical condition.
