Baby Duck Dark Brown. Females tend to be slightly paler than males, with duller olive bills. Both sexes are mostly brown and buff, like a female mallard but richer with a yellow bill.

Some people call them “ducklings” though because they are so adorable. Breeding males have a bold blue bill and chestnut body, while females are a more camouflaged dingy brown. For example, rhode island red chicks are reddish with yellow markings while leghorns are yellow.
